  • Intergrated AMD Radeon Graphics

  • 2xSuperSpeed USB-A, 1xUSB-C, 1xHDMI 1.4b, 1xHeadphone/Microphone Combo Jack
  • 7+ hours of Battery Life

Why the HP Business Laptop is on the list:

HP’s flagship laptop is still a can’t-miss option for whatever your needs are.

This no-frills workhorse doesn’t have a dazzling display, or great speakers, but there are no tasks too heavy for this exceptional, simple work laptop.

Video editors and, frankly, all content creators should give HP business models a fair amount of consideration.

The specs are more than enough to handle your workload, and while the 17-inch screen may not be the very best for watching movies; HP Business laptops are powerful enough to make movies.

4. LG Gram 17

Specs/Features

  • 2.98 lbs
  • 17″ LCD QHD (2560×1600)
  • Intel Xe Graphics
  • 11th generation Intel core i7-1195G7 Processor
  • 16 GB RAM
  • 1 TB SSD
  • Plastic Chassis
  • 2xUSB-C w/Thunderbolt 4 , 2xUSB-A 3.2 , full-size HDMI port, microSD card reader, 3.5mm audio jack
  • 16+ hours of Battery Life

Why the LG Gram 17 is on the list:

With an astoundingly beautiful display, and impossibly-light, sleek design, it should come as no surprise that the LG Gram is a top-rated laptop for multi-media consumers.

In recent years LG has made remarkable upgrades to the Gram’s keyboard and trackpad, and 2021’s 17-inch model is among the best in its class!

Somehow you are getting all of this in an unfathomably light, but perfectly sturdy and rugged chassis.

Battery Life is another high-selling point for the Gram line, and I got more than 16 hours out of the model i tested.

If the LG Gram had better speakers, that offered premier sound-quality, this would be at the very top of this list, particularly for non-professional use.

Still, if a spectacular display and an easy-to-carry frame are what you’re looking for: The LG Gram 17 is probably what you’re looking for.

5. Alienware x17 Gaming Laptop

Specs/Features

  • 7 lbs.
  • 17.3″ FHD (1920×1080)
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 6GB GDDR6
  • 11th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-11800H (24 MB cache, 8 cores, 16 threads, up to 4.60 GHz)
  • 16GB 3200MHz DDR4
  • 1 TB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD
  • Plastic Chassis
  •  Global headset jack| 2. Type-C Thunderbolt 4/USB 3.2 Gen 2 Port, with 2xPower (5V/3A) 2x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A with Powershare, Killer 3100 RJ-45 2.5G Ethernet, HDMI 2.1, Micro SD, Mini Display 1.4
  • 6+ hours of Battery Life

Why the Alienware x17 Gaming Laptop is on the list:

Its simply one of the best Gaming Laptops on the market, under $3000. An advanced Cryo-Tech cooling system, and the most comfortable backlit keyboard among gaming laptops, would put the X17 much higher on the list, but the price keeps it in check, at number 5.

Another issue we have with the Alienware x17 is its lack of practical portability. This isn’t a 17-inch laptop that you can carry around inconsequentially; its heavy and spacious, even for this list.

But its one of our top choices because it is extremely proficient doing what any gaming laptop should be able to do: Provide gamers with hours of intense marathon-gaming.

6. Razer Blade Pro 17

Specs/Features

  • 6 lbs.
  • 17″ 360Hz FHD for competitive gaming,120Hz UHD for creative work with 4K clarity, or a 165Hz QHD display
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series Graphics
  • 11th Gen Intel 8-Core (up to 5.1 GHz)
  • 16GB DDR4-2933MHz (8GB x 2)
  • 1TB PCIe NVMe
  • Aluminum Chassis
  • Backlit Keyboard
  • 3xUSB 3.1 A, 1 USB C, USB C/Thunderbolt 3, 1 HDMI, 1 Ethernet, 1 SD Card Slot
  • 7+hours of Battery Life

Why the Razer Blade Pro 17 is on the list:

Such a portable, powerhouse of a machine most certainly belongs here. And if the cost was just a little more friendly, the Razer Blade Pro 17 would be at, or near the top of the list.

That said, it is still quite remarkable how truly capable this laptop is. You could pay way more for a comparable machine and most 17-inch laptops are neither as legitimately portable, nor as comprehesively useful.

So the Razer Blade Pro 17 pretty much checks every box, and it also has one of the best batteries you can get in a very sharp, very portable package.

7. XPC MSI Creator 17

Specs/Features:

  • 5.4 lbs.
  • 17.3″ UHD (3840×2160) mini-LED 4K
  • RTX 3070 8GB GDDR6 Graphics
  • 11th Gen Intel Tiger Lake Core i7-11800H 8 Cores (24MB Intel Smart Cache, 2.3GHz-4.6GHz
  • 32 GB RAM
  • 1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD
  • Aluminum Chassis
  • Backlit Keyboard
  • 2xUSB 3.2 A, 1 USB C, 1 USB C w/Thunderbolt 4, 1 Ethernet, 1 Headphone/Microphone jack, 1 HDMI, 1 SD Card Slot
  • 6+ hours of Battery Life

Why the XPC MSI Creator 17″ is on the list:

You can get the Creator 17″ with any variation of state-of-the-art specs, including an i9 model. Today you can even buy a 17″ 12th Gen i9 Creator, for an insane $3,999.99.

So if you were looking to spend four-grand on a laptop, that’s a decent option, to be sure.

If not, the 11th gen i7 model is the one we tested and we feel its the superior value-to-cost purchase.

Whichever specifications you prefer, you’re going to spend a lot, but get something practically incomparable in return. There isn’t anything you can’t do with this laptop, and we can’t stress the value of portability enough.

Our primary knock with the 17-inch Creator model we tested, was its terrible battery life. We listed the laptop as having 6+ hours, but I didn’t have a good battery test with it, and got just under 6.

A lackluster battery life is, to a degree worth mentioning in this specific list of huge, powerful, and multi-capable laptops. But obviously no laptop is perfect and for such a jacked machine, we feel it can be forgiven.

Best 17″ Laptop under $1000

8. ASUS Vivobook

Specs/Features

  • 5.07 lbs.
  • 17.3″ HD+ (1600 x 900)
  • Integrated Intel Iris Plus Graphics
  •  10th Gen Intel Quad-Core i7 (1.3GHz – 3.9GHz)
  • 24GB RAM
  • 1TB SSD
  • Plastic Chassis
  • Backlit Keyboard
  • 1xUSB 3.2 A, 1xUSB 3.2 C, 2xUSB 2.0 A, 1xHDMI 1.4, 1×3.5mm Combo Jack, 1xHeadphone out, Micro SD card slot
  • 8+ hours of Battery Life

Why the ASUS Vivobook is on the list:

For a large portion of laptop shoppers, the ASUS Vivobook does the job, just fine! It’s not for heavy gaming or any serious workloads, but if you’re looking for a light, powerful laptop, with a huge display for multimedia and browsing, the Vivobook is priced-to-sell and gorgeous!

We loved the Vivobook we tested. I personally felt the keyboard and trackpad both felt kind of cheap, and the sound quality of the speakers drops significantly when turned all the way up.

The battery in the Vivobook we tested almost went 12 hours with heavy usage, and was a clear strength for any sized laptop, not just a 17-inch.
