Best Foldable Phones

Within a few years, foldable phones have started showing up on our radars, and for good reasons. Smart-foldable phones, and advanced flip phones are providing everything you need, but taking up a lot less space. The best foldable phones of the last 2 years have been absolutely worthy of purchasing, and some are actually quite slick-looking.

More people are purchasing foldable phones now, so we wanted to figure out where the best product was. For the last few years, it’s been Samsung devices that have clearly lead the field. 2022 isn’t different, thanks to the unrivaled quality of flagships Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3.

While there certainly aren’t enough foldable phones to do a top ten list, we were still excited to test each device on this list, and overall had an enjoyable interface with each, and can completely endorse switching to one of these foldable phones.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the best Foldable phone available. To be fair, there isn’t much competition at this point. But after a few weeks of testing, we honestly feel that we can confidently recommend this foldable device to any phone-shopper.

The body of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is waterproof, which is awesome. Its frame and hinges feel sturdy, compared to other foldable smart phones, and overall, this is an excellent phone to interface with.

The cameras on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 aren’t the best on the market, by any means, and that’s unfortunate considering the phone’s high price. But given the current state of the foldable-phone market, this is easily the best foldable phone available.

Current Price: $1,799.99

Why the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the best foldable phone:

In 2020, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 easily set a bar that wasn’t even close to being matched by any competitor.

The Fold 3 comes with two significant upgrades: S Pen support, and IPX8 water-resistance.

Additionaly, the cover display resolution and refresh rate were updated. The Fold 3 has a high-resolution display, with 120Hz support, made of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.

The main display has improved panels and a screen protector that provides a massive increase in the phone’s durability.

Its three main cameras are basically the same ones the Fold 2 had, but the new under-display camera is a particularly impressive upgrade.

The Price of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is high, but it released $200 lower than its predecessor. That said, the Fold 3 comes with no S Pen, you have to purchase it seperately. which is kind of questionable given the phone’s high price.

Pros

  • Incomparable quality among foldable phones
  • lightweight, sleek aluminum build
  • IXP8 water resistance
  • S Pen support
Cons

  • S Pen not included with Galaxy Z Fold 3
  • Expensive

Samsung’s 3rd generation Flip device is enough of an upgrade over its predecessor to claim the title of best clamshell foldable phone.

And like the Fold 3, it has no close competition, at least right now.

With an improved cover screen, and the addition of IPX8 water-resistance, the Flip 3 might actually be preferable to the Fold, or any other foldable phone, when you compare their respective price tags.

You can currently purchase the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 for under a grand, which is pretty awesome, considering the phone’s specs and how sharp the flip looks.

Current Price: $875 and up

Why the SAMSUNG Galaxy Z Flip 3 is the best clamshell foldable phone:

One significant improvement to the series, is the Flip 3’s increased size of the cover screen display from 1.1 to 1.9 inches. The other major change is its IPX8 water resistance

Neither cameras, nor battery-life are points-of strength among foldable phones, at least not yet. But to call either on the Galaxy Flip 3 would be kind. The battery is a small 3,300mAh and the 2 rear cameras are pretty meh.

Still, this is an incredibly light-weight, but impressively-capable phone that’s quite competitively priced.

Pros

  • Super light-weight, slick design
  • Gorgeous AMOLED display
  • Top of market quality build and features
  • IXP8 water resistance
Cons

  • Battery lacking
  • No telephoto lens

Why the Microsoft Surface Duo 2 5G is on the list:

The build of the Surface Duo 2 is sturdy. The hinges feel solid, and the tablet opens and closes smoothly. The screens OLED panels are seriously awesome; the colors are bright, the blacks are deep.

The Microsoft Surface Duo 2 doesn’t exactly fit comfortably in the pocket. That may be a massive problem , especially for those who can’t imagine not having their phone in their front pocket. For others, it doesn’t diminish the intriguing ability to reduce devices.

The original Surface Duo had just one terrible speaker, but there are two decent, considerably louder speakers on the Duo 2.

And while that’s a major upgrade to is predecessor, both the sound system, and the interface in general, are still beaten by the top Samsung foldable phones.

Pros

  • Multi-capable, excellent idea for device reduction
  • S Pen support
  • 2 Awesome AMOLED Displays
Cons

  • Expensive
