Sandisk has redesigned its Extreme PRO Portable SSD, and the result is an extremely powerful portable SSD. We are very happy to give you this Sandisk Extreme Pro Review!
An abundance of power at a reasonable price.
It now has double the write transfer rate. The protective non-slip case is IP55 certified. The one little downside is the lack of fingerprint, encryption is done on an app on a virtual CD.
The Sandisk Extreme Pro Portable SSD is one of the best USB hard drives for consumers with high demands, and it’s relatively inexpensive considering the SSD’s performance.
Tech Tip: Small differences in SSD drives can make a large difference in performance. In the product name, check to make sure thatthe Sandisk Extreme Pro V2 1TB has a “V2” in the name or the “81” in the product number. The previous model of the Sandisk Extreme Pro 1TB, has the number “80” in the same place. Just a small difference in the product name, but a huge difference in performance.
The Sandisk Extreme Pro Portable SSD has a very consistent read transfer rate of 1,655 MB/s, which is over 600 MB/s faster than the previous model.
Thank you, USB 3.2 2×2.
It also has a write transfer rate of 1,873 MByte/s, approximately twice as fast. The SSD begins with an even stronger 2,000 MByte/s, soon goes down to 1,580 MByte/s after only five seconds, and then stays at that level. These workhorses are an absolute deal!
However, you need a compatible USB 3.2 port (2.2) on your computer so that you can also access these speeds at home. Otherwise, you will not benefit from these blazing fast speeds.
Internally, the Sandisk Extreme Pro V2 1TB uses an NVMe SSD that also supports UASP for accelerated data transfer. The data can be encrypted and shared using the app. You can assign a password or directly share a specific PC. Unfortunately, Linux is not supported. Sorry, guys.
On the exterior, the Sandisk is surrounded by a robust aluminum case, which is protected with a non-slip rubber coating. In addition, the case is protected against dust and water according to the IP55 standard. The 1000 GB SSD weighs less than 3 oz! The new version is only 4.4 in x 2.2 in x 0.4 in. The Extreme Pro V2 features a USB Type-C port. Two cables are included. (USB Type-C to USB Type-C & USB Type-C to USB Type-A)
